Volvo Group Rolls-Out Hybrid Technology in the U.S.

Volvo Group's internally developed hybrid technology for heavy vehicles, I-SAM (Integrated Starter Alternator Motor), reinforces the company's commitment to investing in hybrid technology vehicles which can have less environmental impact and still be commercially viable. Volvo's I-SAM hybrid technology can provide fuel savings of up to 35% depending on application area and driving conditions. At a recent event in Washington, U.S., Volvo Group and its subsidiary Mack presented a construction truck with hybrid drive which are currently developing in cooperation with the US Air Force. The Mack hybrid truck forms part of the Group's plans to start serial production of hybrid heavy vehicles in 2009.
